TOMS SHOES AND CHARA

May 16, 2014 | 0 comments

CHaRA has a team of four young men working every day in 56 primary schools of Unguja Zanzibar. They teach hygiene and give shoes three times a year in each school. The shoes are provided by TOMS Shoes of America and delivered with loving hands by CHaRA. This program is set up in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. Teachers also receive shoes and are a help in being sure the shoes fit each child.

During the year we have teams from America join us to help give shoes to kids. Giving kids shoes and teaching them to wear shoes helps prevent infections and worms that enter through bare feet. Learning to wash their hands will prevent 50% of the diseases they encounter in their daily life. This program gives health and saves lives!
