“Women & Newborns: The Heart of Midwifery”

This year we received permission to give our nurse/midwives TOMS Shoes for their work. The EVA shoe is great for the hospital and clinic environment. 176 participants at the celebration received new shoes. Ron was there to be sure everyone received a pair that fit perfect.

International Day of the Midwife 2016
This past two weeks CHaRA has been celebrating women and newborns along side of ZANA (Zanzibar nurses association). We held 6 clinics for breast/cervical cancer screening, blood pressure and diabetes testing for women in the six districts of Unguja Zanzibar. Each day we held education teaching on cervical cancer, self breast examinations and women’s cycle for child bearing or spacing. The women were very happy to have this service available to them.

Seven hundred and three (703) women were screened, twenty-nine (29) women were sent for further investigation. At the end of the 6 clinics we celebrated with the Ministry of Health, UNFPA, ZANA and Midwives of Zanzibar. Thank you to the guest from America and others that joined us during this time. Thank YOU for supporting midwives, mothers and babies of Zanzibar Tanzania.
