Mfenesini Primary School Project Complete

“According to World Health Organization (WHO), 70% of the diseases in Tanzania are caused by poor access to safe water and hygienic sanitation service” (Anthony Tambwe). CHaRA is serving the people of Zanzibar through safe water, sanitation and hygeine projects. We have just completed a project at Mfenesini Primary School; a new bore hole was drilled to provide water, a hand-washing station with running water was completed, toilets were cleaned and painted for boys, girls and teachers, 2 classrooms received new concrete floors, the water storage tank is now filled everyday. Teacher’s received training in first aid and CPR and given a first aid kit for the school. Both students and teachers were given TOMS Shoes in our second round of the hygiene-worm prevention program. A student with disabilities received a PET cart and we made a ramp to his classroom. We had a great team of three women from North Carolina join us. A huge thank you to the water project donors; the Moll’s and the family of Ursula Smith. Together we are making a difference for Zanzibar.
