March Gladness!

THANKS to the Birthing Hope volunteers for their faithful work to make this day a huge success. Our team are champions!

This year about 140 ladies gathered to celebrate Mothers, Babies and Midwives. The Birthing Hope Project supports midwives and babies in Zanzibar, Tanzania. These ladies gave big for this wonderful project exceeding past years in giving.

Twenty three midwives were sponsored this year. Our main speaker this year was Gina Wilson. She will be joining CHaRA in Zanzibar to teach midwives the “Helping Babies Breathe” program. This is part of her Doctorate of Nursing program with Duke University. CHaRA now has an affiliate with Duke University so that this program and others in the future will be possible. Because of the supporters of CHaRA Birthing Hope, each midwife in the program will receive training and the equipment necessary to save babies’ lives.

Thanks to our guests who will keep Birthing Hope in the years to come.

Your support has also made it possible for us to have a celebration of midwives in Zanzibar in May – “Midwives for a Better Tomorrow 2015”. We have a team of young women from the USA joining us in Zanzibar for this time of education and celebration. Because of our Birthing Hope Tea sponsors, all donations go directly into the Birthing Hope Project.
