Furaha iliyoje! Oh the joys He brings. Our hearts thrill at the greatness of our God. Our minds are swirling with the events of all that has been accomplished in the past months. We celebrate the lives of those who have sojourned with us; it has been our delight to work along side each one. In short detail these are some of the most recent events:
CHaRA partnered with Zanzibar Outreach, IMPACT, and Oxford University for a hearing awareness campaign. During the week 16 children were fitted with hearing aids and our little girl Aisha now age 4 was included. She can hear sounds now. She was enrolled in a hearing imparied nursery school that will teach her to turn sounds into words. We were able to give out solar powered hearing aids during our last clinic. One lady had not been able to hear in many years, her sister's expression of joy told us how thankful they were. Many thanks to those who gave for the hearing aids we were able to provide.
Through our relationship with Zanzibar Outreach we volunteered to remodel a toilet block into an ENT Center for Dr. Naufal. We received this message from Dr. Jape, "thanks a lot for your message that you will come to Pemba, I have already informed the doctor in charage about this activity, happily you are welcome again, thank you for being kind to mothers and their babies." This is an open door for a great opportunity. God has put love and compassion in our hearts for hurting people that has no strings attached. We give people a cup of clean water because they are thirsty and out of the abundance of our hearts flows living water.
CHaRA is now registered in Zanzibar as an official NGO. (Non governmental agency)
In our last 7 malaria prevention and wellness clinics over 8,000 mothers and babies entered through our doors to receive health care, teaching, and a mosquito net for every family. The last team created a drama to demonstrate using the nets to protect pregant women and children. "Laughter is good medicine..." we had lots of good medicine!
Over 100 people attend the Crown Financial Seminar held at Kariakoo Christian Center in Zanzibar. It was a huge success. John and Mary Beth Flippen are responsible for CHaRA helping to translate this material into Swahili.
There are many more stories to be told but for now we say thank you for your support of CHaRA.
