Halim is a 3 year old boy left at the government orphanage because his parents died and he has no relatives to take him in. His brother Nasol also lives at the orphanage. We received permission to take Halim to the doctor because his huge stomach looked like a carrott was sticking out it. We took him to a doctor in the mainland that said he had a hernia that needed to be watched but he was too young for an operation. We will keep watch over him.

A young man turned 18 at the orphanage and remained without hope. Juma has lived at the orphanage for many years but he has no place to go when he is forced to leave and be on his own.  These children are sent to primary school but few attend secondary school (our 7th-12th grades).  They have no skills to find a job to be able to live and provide for a family, they are left to wonder on the streets. Dr. Naufal reported that a man in one of the rural villages had receieved one of our donated solar power hearing aids life had changed. The man works in the market carrying heavy loads through the crowds of people. He was always having trouble because he could not hear. He would run into people or not stop because he could not hear the other person shouting at him, it made his job hard and dangerous.  Now he reports he can hear and his life has changed thanks to the donor of a solor powered hearing aid.

MALARIA

 

In our last 7 malaria prevention and wellness clinics over 8,000 mothers and babies entered through our doors to receive health care, teaching, and a mosquito net for every family. The last team created a drama to demonstrate using the nets to protect pregant women and children.  "Laughter is good medicine"...we had lots of good medicine!  The benefits of teaching mothers how to protect their children is knowing she is the one who loves and cares for her children. She will put into practice all we teach to see her children live long healthy lives.

 September 14th we sent a 40' container from Concord to Zanzibar Island Tanzania.  This is our second shipment of medical equipment to Zanzibar. This time we have 5 incubators given by CMC Northeast Hospital along with many other items they donated. It is amazing to pack and load supplies and equipment you know will save lives and watch it leave the Evangel Worship Center facility. We will be in Zanzibar when the container arrives.

A group of brave men and women took the long journey to Haydom Tanzania with CHaRA to build a school.  The road to Haydom is long, rough, dusty, rocky and bouncy, but the end result is a taste of heaven. After days of working on the school we took a break to travel a little further down a not so traveled path...only a path no road to the village of Hayedaganway.  Here little of todays world can be seen, but a beautiful people group known as the Barbiag will emerge from the bushes when they see us arrive. We spend time with them, singing, teaching, giving corn and beans and making sure the sick have care. They say we love them because we keep coming back, they say they know there is a God because we keep coming back.

A little personal news and reason to rejoice. Our daughter Jodie and son in law Joseph are the proud parents of 2 children; Max age 3 and Ellie age 1. Today they left the orphanage and will be home in the USA in the next few days. Adoption is a beautiful act of God's love and we are so happy to be the blessed receivers.  Max and Ellie will fill our family with great love and joy! 

September 13th Max and Ellie started their journey to America with their Daddy and Mommy. We are blessed. They are doing well.
