In 2005 the founders of CHaRA were helping with a wellness clinic on the Island of Zanzibar where they met Aisha. She was 8 months old at the time. Her grandmother brought her into the clinic at the point of death. They rushed her to the hospital to find the hospital in Zanzibar lacked many simple medical supplies and equipment to save lives. Aisha was carried to the various departments of the hospital by Carol from x-ray to blood testing, Ron was sent into town for the medication and supplies needed to treat Aisha. The report was not good, she had cerebral malaria with only a short time to live.
